I have had so many people inquire about me teaching a course in how to
build an acoustic instrument that I have decided to do it. Therefore, I will be
teaching a ONE ON ONE two or 4-5 week course in building an acoustic
guitar. When the period is completed you will leave with an instrument of
your desires. For complete info go to this page.

I am doing the very same thing right now. I have a student every Saturday until a guitar is completed. Please draw up a release form (I am sure you already have your bases covered). The second Saturday my student had a "near miss" on the table saw and skimmed his thumb on the blade. Scared the ba-jeebers out of both of us.

Don't ever assume someone knows power tools like you do. Another lesson learned the hard way!

I know some people who teach wont let the sudents use power tools.
Insurance is a big issue here.

Thanks Brad and Tim for the liability advice. I will take it to heart!

Yes, I put a nice slice in the first joint of my index finger at Harry Fleishman's class, courtesy of a chisel. The scar is a nice reminder of the benefits of very sharp tools (cuts great!), and a nice reminder of the benefits of only working when you're well rested.

I'm pretty sure I signed a release before class started. Harry also had a good safety lecture in the first class, and reminders every day. It was my own durned fault, late in the day during a week filled with 10-12 hour days.

I'm sure you will do a great job!

The law disfavors (i.e., tries to find some way to invalidate) releases from
liability. Consult both your lawyer and your insurer before proceeding.

Yea, I am a lawyer (in Virginia, Florida and Colorado). Just do not tell anyone.
